I really appreciate your courage to share your metacognitive journey around something unclear to you. I think many of us do feel lack of clarity as we seek to adopt new perspectives and be more inclusive. The title did throw me off a little at first, as it seemed like, as another writer mentioned, you might be in opposition to the non-binary idenitity. However, in reading further, I was impressed by the kindness in your tone, and again, the courage to raise points of confusion for dialogue. And in reading the dialogue below, there are insights given that expand the topic from people who have different gender identities, which is wonderful. I was especially excited that you inspired a non-binary writer to address some your questions and to write more.

Thank you for using your writing to think your thoughts aloud, and for inspiring others to do the same. We have a lot of work to do recognizing and remediating inequities caused by our differences before we can have the "human" tick box, but I think articles and disucssions like this bring us a little closer. Thanks again.
